Blue Horizons Dive Center - Diver Education - Youth Programs at the premier Northeast scuba shop in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania metro area

Blue Horizons Dive Center

Working with children and introducing them to the fun of scuba diving is one of our most exciting and rewarding programs. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has designed excellent programs specifically focused for ages 8 to 14 — Bubblemaker™, Seal Team™ and Junior certifications. Our instructors include parents and experienced youth leaders. Blue Horizons works with schools, YMCAs, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America.

Scuba diving can expand new horizons for family vacations. Children are welcome on all of our escorted dive trips. We also run two family-focused trips every year. We are a group of traveling families who have great skill tailoring vacations to your family's needs. The vacations are life experiences for children, as well as parents.

Blue Horizons Dive Center

Bubblemaker™ is designed with our youngest divers in mind. Now kids 8 and older can discover the excitement of diving. We provide them with gear and a PADI-trained instructor to ensure that they have the time of their lives.

We begin by introducing the basic rules of diving. Then we gear up with help of the instructor, get in the pool to blow some bubbles, and to experience the underwater world.

At the end of the session the students will receive certificates of completion for having been introduced to the underwater environment.

Bubblemaker™ can be a great primary activity or as a component of a birthday party, backyard barbeque, aquatics curriculum or camp activity.

01

Students experience what scuba diving is like under the direct care and supervision of PADI Instructors. Students will take their first underwater breath while learning about the use of scuba diving equipment made specifically for children.

01

The PADI Bubblemaker™ program is for children age 8 and above with no pre-training required.

02

Bubblemaker™ participants can continue the adventure to complete AquaMissions during the SEAL TEAM™program.

03

Those who are 10-14 years old can take the JUNIOR PADI OPEN WATER DIVER course and may want to pursue other advanced kids courses.

01

The Bubblemaker™ Crew-Pack gives kids a memento of their visit to the underwater world and is full of fun surprises. The Pak includes a kid-sized beach towel, log book, certificate, temporary tattoo emblem and the adorable and a popular Bubblemaker™ 'action figure.'

01

Typical sessions last about an hour (sign up, gear up and fun included). The course is available as a confined open water experience (2 meters/6 feet maximum depth).

Blue Horizons Dive Center

The PADI Seal Team™ is for young divers who are looking for action-packed fun in a pool through exciting AquaMissions that are conducted by PADI-certified professionals.

Have you ever wondered what it is like to dive with flashlights, to take digital pictures underwater or to float effortlessly like an astronaut?

These are AquaMissions that introduce you to wreck, navigation, buoyancy, underwater photography, environmental awareness and more.

Here is your chance to do some cool stuff in the pool, to make new friends and to share in the adventure of the underwater world.

01

The best part of the Specialty AquaMissions is that the missions reinforce safe diving skills while the kids are having fun. PADI Seals get to sample a wide variety of dives.

02

PADI Seal Team™ helps children to learn about the following lessons:

Responsibility

The Aquatic Environment

Having a fun pool-only experience

03

The PADI Seal Team™ program is divided into two parts.

Part 1 is AquaMissions 1 through 5, teaching kids the basics of diving — buoyancy control, mask clearing, regulator recovery, etc.

After building a solid foundation of scuba skills, kids move on to part 2. Part 2 is full of specialty AquaMissions, which usually last about an hour.

01

The PADI Seal TEam™ program is for children age 8 and above.

02

01

The Seal Team™ Crew-Pack includes everything a PADI Seal Team member needs to prepare for his or her AquaMissions, with a video on DVD, an activity book and a log book.

Children as young as 10 can earn their diver certification and begin to explore the oceans to a depth of 40 feet. Divers ages 10 and 11 years are required to dive with a parent or professional dive educator.

At age 12, the depth increases and the child can now dive with any certified adult.

At age 15, the certification automatically becomes an adult certification.

The Blue Horizons course is structured using clearly defined incremental goals that build confidence and teach life skills. We teach the same skills and knowledge that any certified diver must master (INITIAL CERTIFICATION).

We introduce the skills in a manner easily grasped by young divers. We increase the amount of supervision provided during the course to ensure a safe and fun environment. This approach has led to unprecedented success in teaching the next generation of divers.

Children are allowed to be part of our regularly scheduled courses. We have found, however, that our FLEX COURSES work exceptionally well for younger students.

01

The Junior Open water program is for children age 10 and above.

Young people can continue the adventure and build their skills by taking the Advanced Open Water Diver course with a few applied limitations.

Scuba Tune-Up classes are conducted every first Saturday of each month. Call to schedule your class, today or send us an e-mail.

Are you a certified diver who hasn’t been able to get in the water enough —too much work, not enough play?

Join us on the first Saturday of each month (excludes December and January) for $10 Bubbles and a Beer. For $10, any certified diver can join us in the pool. Tank is included. Don’t have your own gear yet? For another $10 you will get an entire scuba kit to use.

Cylinder and weights are included with first $10.

Right after the event, we will head to one of the local watering holes/restaurants to grab a beer, some food & hang out. The restaurant will be a family-friendly establishment, welcoming those who can drink beer, as well as those who can only drink root beer. For those who want to drink beer, proper ID and legal age are required.

Come as often as you like; we would love to see you. Blowing bubbles is always a great time, even if it’s just in the pool. Please call to sign up so we know how many are coming.
